| Clinical observation of external application of Chinese herbs in the treatment of thyroid nodules |

Abstract Objective To observe the clinical effect of external application of Chinese herbs in the treatment of thyroid nodules.Methods 60 patients diagnosed as benign thyroid nodules from July 2015 to June 2016 in the department of endocrinology in our hospital were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group,30 cases in each group.The control group was given routine follow-up treatment,the treatment group was given external application of Chinese herbs on thyroid gland on the basis of routine follow-up treatment.The course of treatment was lasted for 3 months.The treatment effect and the change of maximum transverse diameter of thyroid nodules before and after treatment were observed.Results The total effective rate in the treatment group was 73.33%,which was higher than that in the control group(10.00%),with significant difference(P＜0.01).The minification of maximum transverse diameter of thyroid nodules in the treatment group after treatment was better than that in the control group,with significant difference (P＜0.01).Conclusion External application of Chinese herbs can obtain great effect on treating benign thyroid nodules.
