| Effect of Methimazole combining with Quetiapine in treatment of mental disorders caused by thyroid function hyperfunction |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of Methimazole combining with Quetiapine in treatment of mental disorders caused by thyroid function hyperfunction.Methods 100 cases of mental disorders caused by hyperthyroidism in our hospital from June 2015 to January 2016 were selected and randomly divided into study group and control group,50 cases in each group,the study group was given Methiramazole and Quetiapine,the control group was given Methiramazole.The thyroid function and neurological status were compared between two groups.Results The level of thyroid function of two groups were improved after treatment,the levels of FT3,FT4,TSH and BPRS in study group was significantly better than those in the control group after 2,4 and 6 weeks for treatment,and the levels of BPRS was lower than that in control group,the difference was significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion The combination of Methimazole and Quetiapine in the treatment of mental disorders caused by hyperthyroidism can effectively improve the thyroid function and the mental state of the patients,the effect is significant and it is worthy of popularization and application.
