The intervention effect of Crassocephalum crepidioides on pro and antiinflammatory cytokines in serum of ratsw ith ulcerative colitis |

Abstract ObjectiveTo investigate the influence of freeze dried powder of Crassocephalum crepidioides on the expression of serum cytokines TNF-α,IL-6,IL-8 and IL-10 in ratswith ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods 76 healthymale SD rats were randomly selected.Twelve rats were randomly selected as blank control group.The other rats were induced with TNBS/ethanolmixture to establish UC ratmodel.After successfulmodel,all rats were treated with different drugs every day to observe the disease activity index(DAI).The level of TNF-α,IL-6,IL-8 and IL-10 in the serum weremeasured by ELISA.ResultsCompared with model group and positive control group,the level of proinflammatory cytokines IL-6,IL-8 and TNF-α were decreased in varying degrees(P<0.01 or P<0.05),and the level of anti-inflammatory factor IL-10 were increased in varying degrees in different dose group of Crassocephalum crepidioides (P<0.01 or P<0.05).ConclusionThe freeze-dried powder of Crassocephalum crepidioides has a certain effect on the symptoms of UC rats.Themechanism may be related to influencing the expression of TNF-α,IL-6,IL-8 and IL-10.
