Abstract Objective To study the relationship between the distribution of red blood cell distribution width(RDW)and NYHA classification and the effect of short-term prognosis in patients with CHF.Methods A total of 193 patients who were hospitalized in our hospital and diagnozed as CHF from June 2013 to June 2015.According to the NYHA divided into A group(55 cases, gradeⅠ),B group(42 cases, gradeⅡ),C group(48 cases, gradeⅢ),D group(48 cases, gradeⅣ).Cox regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors of death in patients with CHF.Results Hemoglobin(Hb) and red blood cell(RBC)decreased with the increase of NYHA grade;Hb and RBC of group A,group B,group C,group D were decreased, the difference was statistically significant(F1=4.044,F2=2.906,P<0.05);LgNT-proBNP of group A,group B, group C,group D were increased, the difference was statistically significant(F=3.492,P<0.01);Cox forward stepwise regression analysis showed that RDW,Hb,N-terminal B-type natriuretic peptide(LgNT-proBNP)and age were independent predictors of poor prognosis in patients with CHF(HR=1.892,3.924,0.925,1.003,P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with age and Hb factor,RDW level has a better independent predictive value for the NYHA classification of CHF patients.
