Abstract Objective To explore the application effect of developmental care in the perioperative nursing of neonatal congenital esophageal atresia. Methods The clinical data of 102 newborns with congenital esophageal atresia admitted to Urumqi First People's Hospital from January 2016 to December 2019 were analyzed retrospectively.According to different nursing methods, they were divided into observation group (52 cases) and control group (50 cases),observation group perioperative nursing was adopted for developmental care, and the control group was given conventional perioperative nursing. The surgical indicators, temperature changes, postoperative recovery and the total incidence of postoperative complications were compared between the two groups. Results There was no statistically significant difference in the operation time between the two groups of children (P>0.05);the intraoperative blood loss in the observation group was less than that of the control group, and the duration of stay and hospitalization in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) were shorter than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05);there was no statistically significant difference in body temperature between the two groups before surgery (P>0.05);the body temperature of the observation group at 1,2 h and at the end of the operation were higher than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05);the postoperative wake-up time of the observation group was shorter than that of the control group, the increase in weight was greater than that of the control group, and the number of nutritional supplement days was shorter than that of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05);the total incidence of complications in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The use of developmental care during the perioperative period in neonates with congenital esophageal atresia has a good effect. It can reduce intraoperative blood loss, shorten hospitalization, stabilize the body temperature of children, and reduce postoperative complications. It is worthy of promotion.
