Correlation between serum vitamin D, calcium ion level and anemia in patients with diabetic chronic kidney disease |

Abstract Objective To explore the correlation between serum vitamin D, calcium ion level and anemia in patients with diabetic chronic kidney disease. Methods A total of 80 patients with diabetic chronic kidney disease who were admitted to Zhuanghe Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Liaoning Province from May 2018 to April 2020 were selected as the research objects and divided into the control group and anemia group according to weather or not anemia, with 40 cases in each group. The clinical data of the patients were collected, the levels of calcium ion,phosphorus ion and 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 were compared between the two groups, and univariate and multivariate Logistic regression were used to analyze the risk factors of anemia in diabetic chronic kidney disease. Results Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 level in patients with stage 3 diabetic chronic kidney disease was higher than that in patients with stage 4 and stage 5, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The level of calcium ions in anemia group was lower than that in control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The level of phosphorus ions was higher than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 was lower than that in control group,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Univariate analysis showed that hypocalcemia, hyperphosphatemia and the ratio of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 reductions in anemia group were higher than those in control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that hypocalcemia (β=1.509, OR=1.819, 95%CI=1.219-2.008), hyperphosphatemia (β=1.711, OR=1.586, 95%CI=1.035-2.957) and 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 reductions (β=1.978, OR=2.079, 95%CI=1.596-2.245) were independent risk factors for anemia in patients with diabetic chronic kidney disease (P<0.05). Conclusion The decreased levels of vitamin D and calcium are the risk factors for anemia in patients with diabetic chronic kidney disease.
