Effect of early micro-feeding on the number of Intestinal Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria and the incidence of feeding intolerance in premature infants |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of early micro-feeding on the number of Intestinal Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria and the incidence of feeding intolerance in premature infants.Methods A total of 410 premature infants admitted to our hospital from August 1,2016 to February 1,2018 were selected as the study subjects.According to the random envelope method,they were divided into the observation group(205 cases)and the control group(205 cases).In the control group,routine protocols as the intervention were used,while in the observation group,early micro-feeding protocols as the intervention were adopted.The time to recover birth weight,time of gastric tube removal,time of total enteral nutrition,hospitalization time,the levels of Intestinal Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria,and incidence of feeding intolerance were compared between the two groups.Results The time to recover birth weight,time of gastric tube removal,time of total enteral nutrition,and hospitalization time of the premature infants in the observation group were significantly shorter than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the levels of Intestinal Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria between the two groups 3 days after treatment(P>0.05).The levels of Intestinal Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria at 7 and 14 days after treatment in the two groups were significantly higher than those at 3 days after treatment,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of Intestinal Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria at 7 and 14 days after treatment in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The total incidence rate of feeding in-tolerance in the observation group was 19.02%,which was significantly lower than that in the control group (66.34%),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Early micro-feeding can effectively improve the number of Intestinal Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria and reduce the incidence rate of feeding intolerance after intervention in premature infants.
