Influence of Minocycline Hydrochloride on the levels of prostaglandin E2 and human matrix metalloproteinase-8 in gingival crevicular fluid in the patients with fixed orthodontic gingivitis |

Abstract Objective To investigate the influence of Minocycline Hydrochloride on the levels of prostaglandin E2(PGE2),interleukin-1β (IL-1β)and human matrix metalloproteinase 8(MMP-8)in gingival crevicular fluid in the patients with fixed orthodontic gingivitis.Methods From November 2015 to August 2017,80 patients admitted to our hospital with fixed orthodontic gingivitis were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random digital table method,40 cases in each group.The control group was given conventional oral health care,and the observation group was given combined Minocycline Hydrochloride,once a week.After four weeks,the improvement of bleeding index(SBI)and exploration depth (PD)before and after treatment was compared.The improvement of PGE2,IL-1β and MMP-8 levels in gingival crevicular fluid was compared between the two groups after 4 weeks.Results After treatment,the SBI and PD of gingival sulcus in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of PGE2,IL-1β and MMP-8 in gingival crevicular fluid in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Minocycline Hydrochloride can effectively improve the fixed orthodontic gingivitis and reduce the inflammation index and pain media levels in gingival crevicular fluid,which is worthy of popularization.
