| Efficacy of different nursing methods on prevention of urinary tract infection in patients with indwelling urinary catheter |

Abstract ObjectiveTo explore the efficacy of different nursing methods on prevention of urinary tract infection in patients with indwelling urinary catheter.Methods94 cases of patients with indwelling catheter in our hospital from August 2015 to August 2016 were selected and were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the difference nursing methods,with 47 cases in each group.The control group was given routine nursing,while the observation group was given the nursing of indwelling catheter.The length of hospital stays,catheter indwelling time,the incidence of urinary tract infection and nursing satisfaction were compared between two groups.ResultsThe length of hospital stays and catheter indwelling time in the observation group[(9.2±2.5),(6.7±2.1)d]were shorter than those in the control group[(14.0±2.2),(10.9±3.6)d],the incidence of urinary tract infection(2.13%)was lower than that in the control group(17.02%),the nursing satisfaction(95.74%)was higher than that in the control group(85.11%),and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).ConclusionThe indwelling catheter for patients with indwelling catheter nursing can effectively reduce the incidence of urinary tract infection，improve patient satisfaction with care，reduce the length of hospital stay and pain of patients.
