| Effect of magnetic attachment on the restoration of elderly com plete overdenture and its influence on periodontal health |

Abstract ObjectiveTo study the effect ofmagnetic attachment on the restoration of elderly complete overdenture and its influence on periodontal health.Methods136 elderly patientswith dentition defect from April 2011 to October 2015 in the pepartment of dentistry of our hospital were selected and randomly divided into the experience group and the control group,78 cases in each group.The control group was treated with conventional overdenture restoration of card ring retainer,the experience group was treated with overdenture restoration of magnetic attachment.The efficacy,periodontal health and the incidence rate of adverse reactions were compared.ResultsThe satisfaction rate of language function,comfort,denture appearance of the experience group was 94.12%,92.65%,97.06%respectively,which was higher than 54.41%,41.47%,50.00%of the control group,with significant difference(P＜0.01).The chewing efficiency,fixed force of the experience group was higher than that of the control group,with significant difference (P＜0.01).The indexes of SBI,GCF,alveolar bone height,periodontal pocket depth of the experience group was better than that of the control group,with significant difference(P＜0.01).The incidence rate of adverse reactions in the two groupswere 4.41%,the difference was not statistically significant(P＞0.05).ConclusionThe effect ofmagnetic attachment on the restoration of elderly complete overdenture is obvious,the satisfaction rate is high,and it hurts little to periodontal health,it isworthy of clinical promotion and application.
