Abstract:Objective To observe the effect of using externally applied fresh potato chips to treat iron sucrose-induced phlebitis. Methods Ninety-nine female patients with phlebitis caused by intravenous infusion of iron sucrose due to anemia who were hospitalized in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University from January 2017 to October 2019 were selected as the research subjects. They were numbered according to the order of their admission.Fifty patients with odd numbers were considered as the observation group,49 patients with even numbers were categorized into the control group.Patients in the observation group were treated with external application of fresh potato chips;in the control group, they were treated with 25% Magnesium Sulfate (MgSO4) for wet compress. The therapeutic total effective rate of phlebitis and the nursing total satisfaction from patients were compared between the two groups. Results The therapeutic total effective rate in the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with statistical difference (P<0.05).The nursing total satisfaction in the observation group was higher than that of the control group, with statistical difference (P<0.05).Conclusion The effect of external application of fresh potato chips in the treatment of iron sucrose-induced phlebitis is higher than that of Magnesium Sulfate for wet compress alone.Meanwhile, the operation is simple, the patient is easy to accept, and the nursing satisfaction is improved.
