Abstract:Traditional Chinese medicine has obvious advantages in the treatment of functional constipation, which can not only relieve constipation, adjust the disordered gastrointestinal function, but also improve the physical condition of patients. But at present, there are many disadvantages in the treatment of functional constipation in the elderly according to traditional Chinese medicine, such as confusion of clinical syndrome types, various names, no unified standard and so on.It is caused by the imbalance of Qi, Blood, Yin and Yang in human body, and it is also the local manifestation of the imbalance of multiple viscera functions in the intestine.Although the disease is located in the large intestine, the cause of the disease is closely related to the dysfunction of the spleen, kidney, lung, heart and liver.Based on the clinical experience and literature research, this paper analyzes the elderly functional constipation from holism of five Zang organs, and discusses the relationship between the five Zang organs and constipation. The treatment is based on the spleen, kidney, lung, heart and liver, respectively, with the principle of “syndrome differentiation and treatment”, prescriptions based on the five Zang organs, and guided treatment of senile functional constipation by the maintenance of the normal function of the five Zang organs.
