Abstract:Objective To explore an alternative method of postural restraint in children′s chest X-ray examination to avoid X-ray exposure of family members. Methods A total of 681 children aged 1-3 who underwent chest radiography from July 2017 to June 2018 in our hospital were selected in this study. All of them were grouped by the parity of X-ray examination numbers, odd numbers as the control group (340 cases)and even numbers as the experimental group(341 cases). In the control group, one family member fixed the upper limb and the other fixed the lower limb.In the experimental group, the modified limb restraint band was used to fix the limbs. The quality of chest radiograph,Incidence of bedfall in children and the number of family members were compared between the two groups. Results Compared the two groups, there was no statistically significant difference in image quality and Incidence of bedfall in children(P>0.05).The rate of accompanying examination of family members in the experimental group(34.60%)was significantly lower than that in the control group(160.90%),the difference was statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion The limb restraint band produced by this study can effectively fix the limbs of children and avoid or reduce X-ray exposure of family members.
