Abstract:ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical effect of autologous ossicular chain and artificial ossicular chain in the treatment of chronic otitis media with hearing impairment.MethodsClinical data of 78 patients with chronic otitis media who underwent ossicular reconstruction from February 2014 to October 2016 in our hospital and the Second Hospital Affiliated to Zhongshan Medical Sciences University were retrospectively analyzed.According to the different ossicular chain reconstruction material, they were divided into the autologous ossicular chain group(n=47)and artificial ossicular chain group (n=31).The hearing improvement before surgery and after 6 months surgery and occurrence of complications in patients between the two groups were compared.ResultsThe bone-conduction threshold and air-conduction threshold in pure tone test and the air-bone gap (ABG)before surgery were not displayed significant differences between the two groups (P>0.05).After 6 months surgery, the bone-conduction threshold and air-conduction threshold in pure tone test and ABG of the artificial ossicular chain group was lower than that of those of the autologous ossicular chain group (P<0.05).There was no great difference of the incidence of postoperative complications between the two groups(P>0.05).ConclusionArtificial ossicular chain reconstruction in the treatment of chronic otitis media with hearing impairment can remarkably decrease the hearing threshold, improve hearing, and obtain a favorable clinical effect.
