Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of individualized health education on the maintenance of outpatient Peripherally-Inserted Central Catheterization (PICC)in tumor patients. Methods A total of 132 patients who underwent the maintenance of PICC in Department of Outpatient in our hospital from May 2016 to May 2017 were selected as the subjects, and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number method, with 66 cases in each group. The conventional health education was carried out in the control group, and the observation group was given individualized health education on the basis of the control group. The PICC maintenance knowledge,PICC self-management ability and PICC-related complications were compared between the two groups. Results At post-interventional 3 months, the PICC maintenance score of the observation group ([17.67±2.13]points)was higher than the control group([13.54±1.86]points).The PICC self-management ability score of observation group([29.47±0.93]points)was higher than that of the control group ([26.08±0.64]points).The total incidence PICC-related complication of observation group(9.09%)was lower than that of the control group(22.72%),with statistically significant difference (P<0.05).Conclusion Personalized health education can promote patients′PICC maintenance knowledge, improve their PICC self-management ability, and reduce the incidence of PICC-related complications so as to improve the quality of life for patients with PICC.
