Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of 4 different methods for preventing dental caries in deciduous molars. Methods 160 cases of children aged 3-5 years in this district(Baoan District of Shenzhen City)from January to June in 2015 were selected as the research objects and divided into four groups with 40 cases in each group according to the different preventing decay methods.Children in group A used fluoride toothpaste to brush their teeth, children in group B used fluoride toothpaste to brush their teeth and their teeth were coated with fluoride protection paint, children in group C used fluoride toothpaste to brush their teeth and their teeth were coated with liquid resin pit and fissure sealant, children in group D used fluoride toothpaste to brush their teeth and their teeth were coated with fluoride protection paint and liquid resin pit and fissure sealant. The caries status of children in 4 groups 6,12,18 months after intervention were observed. Results In group A,the caries prevalence rates of primary molars was respectively 5.00%, 15.00%and 40.00%when 6,12,18 months after intervention, which was 5.00%,25.00%12,18 months after intervention in group B,with 10.00%12 months and 25.00%18 months after intervention in group C,and with 10.00%18 months after intervention in group D.The incidence of dental caries in group A 18 months after intervention was significantly higher than that of group B,group C or group D,the incidence of dental caries in group D was the lowest and there were statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The incidence of adjacent caries showed that no caries occurred in 4 groups at the end of 6,12 months intervention. The incidence of adjacent caries in group A was 15.00%18 months after intervention,10.00%in both group B and C and there was no adjacent caries in group D.There was significant differences between group D and group A,group B, group C (P<0.05).The caries showed in 4 groups6,12,18 mo nths after intervention that the caries in group B,group C or group D 18 months after intervention was significantly lower than that in A group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The effect of only using toothpaste with fluoride to prevent the deciduous molar caries is the worst and the effect of using fluoride toothpaste brush with fluid resin pit closed and fluoride protective paint is the best.Fluoride varnish has a protective effect of pit and fissure sealant and also can prevent blocking off, which has significant preventive effect on deciduous molar caries.
