| Application of retention enema of traditional Chinese medicine combined with auricular point sticking and pressing in nursing of elderly patients with constipation |

Abstract Objective To investigate the application of retention enema of traditional Chinese medicine combined with auricular point sticking and pressing in nursing of elderly patients with constipation. Methods Retrospective analysis was performed on 82 elderly patients with constipation who were treated in Zhonghe Hospital of Yichuan City from April 2017 to December 2019. According to the treatment methods, they were divided into the observation group (42 cases) and the control group (40 cases). The control group was treated with auricular point sticking and pressing, while the observation group was treated with retention enema of traditional Chinese medicine combined with auricular point sticking and pressing. The curative effect, TCM symptom score and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate after nursing of the observation group was higher than that of the control group,the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in the scores of anorexia, fatigue, dry stool, low back pain and back pain (P>0.05). After treatment, the scores of poor appetite,fatigue, dry stool, back pain and total score after nursing in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05); the total satisfaction of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Retention enema of traditional Chinese medicine combined with auricular point sticking and pressing can decrease the scores of clinical symptoms of elderly patients with constipation, and improve the clinical symptoms, improve the treatment effect and nursing satisfaction.
