In vitro study and clinical analysis of apical sealing performance of bioceramic material iRoot SP |

Abstract Objective To observe the apical sealing performance of bioceramic material iRoot SP in vitro, so as to provide reference for its application in the treatment of pulp and periapical diseases. Methods From September 2018 to September 2020, the extracted teeth of patients in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Jiangmen Stomatological Hospital in Guangdong Province were collected, and 120 isolated single root canal teeth were selected as the in vitro study samples of this study. Root canals were prepared to F2 with Protaper nickel titanium machine using the downward method, and the extracted teeth of the included groups were randomly divided into group A, group B, group C, group D, 30 cases in each group. Group A and group B were filled with hot gutta percha, AH-Plus was used in group A, iRoot SP was used in group B, group C was treated with iRoot SP single point filling, group D did not use sealer, only hot gutta percha vertical pressure filling. After the specimens were treated with dye penetration method and transparent tooth method, the length of dye penetration into root canal was measured. The permeation effects of the four groups were compared. Results The infiltration distance in group A, B, C were shorter than group D, while the infiltration distance in group B were shorter than those in group A and D, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the infiltration distance between group A and group C (P>0.05). Conclusion In the root canal treatment of isolated teeth, different materials of root canal sealers have different effects. The difference of apical sealing performance between iRoot SP and AH-Plus is small, while the single tip method of root canal filling iroot SP apical sealing can also obtain good root canal sealing, which provides a reference for finding a more simple and effective root canal filling method in clinic.
