Evaluation of the diagnostic effect of conventional electroencephalography and sphenoid electroencephalography combined in different types of epilepsy |

Abstract Objective To explore the diagnostic effect of electroencephalography(EEG)combined with conventional electroencephalography and sphenoid electroencephalography(SPE)in different types of epilepsy.Methods A total of 200 patients with epilepsy admitted to Beijing Yangfangdian Hospital from January 2018 to August 2020 were randomly selected as the research subjects,including 50 patients with general epilepsy and 150 patients with partial epilepsy,of which 50 patients with medial temporal lobe epilepsy and 100 patients with non-medial temporal lobe epilepsy were included in partial epilepsy.All patients underwent conventional EEG and SPE.The detection rate of epileptic discharge in patients with different types of epilepsy was compared by using two EEG methods alone and combining two EEG methods.Results In the diagnosis of patients with general epilepsy,the detection rate of epileptic discharge by combined examination was higher than that by sphenoid electrode examination,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In the diagnosis of patients with partial epilepsy,the detection rate of epileptic discharges by the combined examinations was higher than that of the sphenoid electrode examination,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In the diagnosis of patients with medial temporal lobe epilepsy,the epileptic discharge detection rate of sphenoid electrode examination and combined examination was higher than that of conventional electrode examination,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference in the detection rate of epilepsy between the combined test and sphenoid electrode test(P>0.05).In the diagnosis of patients with non-medial temporal epilepsy,the detection rate of epileptic discharge by combined examination was higher than that by sphenoid electrode examination,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Sphenoid electrode examination is of high diagnostic value in patients with medial temporal lobe epilepsy,but for patients with non-medial temporal lobe epilepsy and generalized epilepsy,combined sphenoid electrode and conventional electrode examinations is required with a favorable effect.
