Abstract Acute ischemic stroke is a rare but serious complication of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).Particularly, there are poor prognosis and high risk of death in elderly patients, which seriously affects the quality of life.In recently years, there were 3 cases of acute ischemic stroke after PCI in Department of Geriatrics,Xiangxi Autonomous Prefecture People′s Hospital. All the 3 elderly patients had a history of hypertension and diabetes, they occured different degrees of stroke symptoms after PCI.The final clinical diagnosis was acute ischemic stroke, with poor prognosis.Clinically,PCI should be more cautious for elderly patients with multiple risk factors at the same time, especially those with no intervention for risk factors and previous history of ischemic stroke. The surgeon should try to operate in a standard and gentle manner to minimize the risk and fully assess the risk of ischemic stroke before surgery.
