Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of Bakri balloon tamponade on postpartum hemoporrhage in elderly parturients.Methods A total of 128 elderly parturients with postpartum hemorrhage who were admitted to Yichang Central People′s Hospital from January 2016 to December 2019 were selected as the research subjects.According to random number table,they were divided into observation group(64 cases)and control group(64 cases).The observation group was treated with Bakri balloon tamponade,while the control group was treated with B-Lynch suture.Operation time,postoperative blood loss,postoperative hemoglobin 24 h,hospitalization time,incidence of postpartum infection,incidence of uterine involution and success rate of hemostasis were compared between the two groups.Results The operation time,hospitalization time in the observation group were shorter than those of the control group and postoperative blood loss in the observation group was less than that in the control group,and the hemoglobin at 24 h after operation was higher than that in the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).There were no significant differences in the incidence of postpartum infection and uterine involution between the two groups(P＞0.05).The success rate of hemostasis in observation group was higher than that in control group,the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion Bakri balloon tamponade has a good prevention and treatment effect on postpartum hemorrhage of elderly women,which is helpful to reduce the amount of postpartum hemorrhage and hospital stay,improve the success rate of hemostasis,and has high application safety,which is worthy of wide popularization and application.
