| Meta-analysis of Glutaraldehyde vs Ethanol for disinfection of Penicillin skin test |

Abstract ObjectiveTo evaluate the influence of Glutaraldehyde cleaning vs Ethanol disinfection on Penicillin skin test result in the published literatures in China.MethodsRandomized controlled trials(RCT)in Glutaraldehyde vs Ethanol applied in Penicillin skin test were searched and screened in CBM,CNKI,VIP,Wanfang,PubMed,Cohrance database and so on.The retrieval time was from database building to January,2017.The literature was screened according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria decided by the evaluation research quality.Meta-analysis was conducted using Review Manager 5.0 software.ResultsTotally 4 studies were eligible to the criteria in 113 literatures reviewed.Meta-analysis showed there was significant difference between Glutaraldehyde and Ethanol groups∶I2＝0% (OR＝0.16,95%CI＝0.11-0.22,P＜0.00001),but publication bias may exaggerate the effect of Glutaraldehyde.ConclusionGlutaraldehyde has lower false positive rate compared with Ethanol,but further studies are needed in proving whether Glutaraldehyde can replace Ethanol in penicillin skin test.The quality of the included studies is not high,the above conclusions are verified by developing more high-quality randomized double-blind controlled trials.
