AbstractObjective To analyze the application value of carotid artery ultrasound in the early diagnosis of stroke. Methods From January 2012 to October 2018, 50 patients with early stroke who had undergone carotid ultrasound examination in our hospital were selected as stroke group. In addition, 50 non stroke patients who underwent carotid ultrasound examination at the same time were selected as the healthy group. The carotid artery wall thickness, carotid hemodynamic index and carotid stenosis were compared between the two groups, and the diagnostic value of carotid ultrasound was observed. Results The intima-media thickness of the internal, external and common carotid arteries in stroke group were higher than those in healthy group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The vascular resistance index (RI) and the peak systolic velocity (PSV) of common carotid artery and internal carotid artery in stroke group were higher than those in healthy group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The degree of carotid stenosisin stroke group was heavier than that in the healthy group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Carotid artery ultrasound can confirm whether the carotid is stenosed or not and the degree of carotid stenosis, and can well and truly reflect the hemodynamic index of the patients′ carotid artery, which is helpful for the early diagnosis of carotid artery and provides some basis for the treatment of patients in clinics.
