Clinical effect of internal fixation with hollow screw and mini-plate in the treatment of massive ankle fracture |

Abstract Objective To explore the clinical effect of internal fixation with hollow screw and mini-plate in the treatment of massive ankle fracture.Methods A total of 77 patients with massive posterior ankle fracture admitted to our hospital from March 2016 to March 2018 were selected as the research objects.According to the even and odd number of the patient′s admission bed,they were divided into the control group (38 cases) and the observation group (39 cases).The patients in the control group were treated with hollow screw internal fixation,while those in the observation group were treated with mini-plate internal fixation.The intraoperative and postoperative conditions of the two groups were compared.All the patients were followed up for one year to evaluate the fracture complete healing time,complete weight bearing time and ankle joint function.Results The intraoperative blood loss of patients in observation group was less than that in the control group,the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).There were no significant difference between the two groups in operation time and total postoperative complication rate (P>0.05).The fracture healing time and full load completely time in observation group were shorter than those in the control group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The treatment excellent rate and American orthopedic foot and ankle society(AOFAS) score in the observation group were higher than those in the control group,with statistically significant differences (P<0.05).Conclusion Both internal fixation with hollow screw and mini-plate have definite therapeutic effects on massive fracture,but mini-plate internal fixation treatment can decrease the intraoperative blood loss,accelerate fracture healing,improve ankle function,with great application promotion value.
