Abstract Stroke is known as its high fatality and high morbidity，approximately 70%of which are cerebral infarction.The prognosis after stroke is closely related to the quality of life of patients.The prediction of post-stroke prognosis at admission can guide clinical treatment，nursing and rehabilitation programs.White blood cells are the main blood cells that mediate the immune response in human body，they are divided into neutrophils，lymphocytes and eosinophils and so on.The neutrophils and lymphocytes account for 60%-90%.Studies have shown that neutrophil counts，lymphocyte counts，and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratios are closely related to short-term prognosis of ischemic stroke.This article reviews the relationship between neutrophils and lymphocytes and short-term prognosis of acute ischemic stroke and its mechanism to guide early clinical intervention and improve poor prognosis.
