Effect of N-Acetylcysteine combined with low-dose of Azithromycin on airway mucus hypersecretion in stable phase of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of N-acetylcysteine combined with low-dose Azithromycin on airway mucus hypersecretion in stable phase of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Methods Eighty-four patients with stable COPD treated in our hospital from January 2016 to October 2017 were selected as observation objects,they were divided into control group and intervention group according to random number table method,with 42 cases in each group.The control group received routine treatment,and the intervention group received N-acetylcysteine and Azithromycin on the basis of the control group,after 6 months of continuous treatment,the lung function,activity endurance and serum inflammatory factors were compared between the two groups.Results There was no significant difference between the two groups in the first second forced expiratory volume(FEV1),forced vital capacity(FVC)and FEV1/FVC (P>0.05);After treatment,the 6-minute walking distance (6-MWD)of intervention group was longer than that of control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The levels of serum inflammatory factors,neutrophil elastase(NE),interleukin-8(IL-8)and interleukin-10(IL-10)in the two groups after treatment were lower than those before treatment,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of serum inflammatory factors NE,IL-8 and IL-10 in intervention group were lower than those in control group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion N-acetylcysteine combined with low-dose Azithromycin in the treatment of stable COPD effect is significant,can improve activity endurance,reduce inflammation,reduce airway mucus secretion,delay the decline of pulmonary function,worthy of clinical promotion.
