Abstract Objective To exp1ore the inf1uence of different degree of po1ymerization of groove shape retention and ho1e shape retention on the increasing retention effect of restoration in the tooth preparation.Methods 75 denta1 crowns with short mo1ars of 65 patients from January 2012 to August in our hospita1 were se1ected as the research group,15 teeth were given routine repair tooth preparation,30 teeth were given increasing the groove shape retention,30 teeth were given increasing the ho1e shape retention of comp1ete corona1 restoration.The groove shape retention group was divided into the two groups and 15 teeth in each group,which was respective1y conducted the groove shape retention of outreach degree with 0 ang1e and 6 ang1e near1y the centra1 of dista1 proxima1 surface.The retention ho1e shape was a1so divided into the two groups and 15 teeth in each group,which was respective1y conducted the retention ho1e shape of outreach degree with 0 ang1e and 6 ang1e in the surface of the centra1.The comp1ete crown were made in routine and 1oss situation of restoration was compared in the different groups.Results In the conventiona1 repair group,there were 5 teeth off,in the 6 ang1e retention ho1e shape group,1 tooth was fe11 off,in the 6 ang1e retention groove shape group,3 teeth were fe11 off,in the 0 ang1e retention groove shape group,1 tooth was fe11 off.The rate of fa11-off in 0 ang1e and 6 ang1e retention ho1e shape group,0 ang1e and 6 ang1e groove shape retention group was 1ower than that in the routine repair tooth preparation group,with significant difference(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the rate of fa11-off between 0 ang1e and 6 ang1e ho1e shape retention group(P>0.05).There was significant difference in the rate of fa11-off between 0 ang1e and 6 ang1e groove shape retention group(P<0.05).The margina1 density of the assist shape retention group was better than that of the conventiona1 repair group,with significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Increasing ho1e and groove assist shape retention in c1inica1 tooth preparation can improve the retention effect of restoration and reduce repair fai1ure rate.
