Clinical observation of the effect of Rhubarb on the prevention of pancreatitis after ERCP |

Abstract Objective To investigate the preventive effect of Rhubarb on acute pancreatitis after ERCP.Methods From March 2014 to March 2016,164 patients with high-risk factors of pancreatitis who were treated by ERCP in Pingxiang People′s Hospital were selected as the study objects,and they were divided into observation group and control group, with 82 cases in each groups.The control group was given the routine treatment before and after operation,the observation group was given Rhubarb Soak Laxative oral 1 d preoperative and 3 h postoperative on the basis of routine treatment.The occurrence of postoperative pancreatitis and hyperamylasemia was compared between two groups;the defecation time and occurrence of other complications were observed.Results The incidence rate of postoperative pancreatitis in the observation group was 2.44%,was lower than that of the control group(7.32%)(P<0.05);the hyperamylasemia of the observation group[(10.26±3.26)h]was significantly shorter than that of the control group[(19.54±4.69)h](P<0.01); there was no other serious complications happened in two groups.Conclusion Rhubarb can significantly reduce the incidence of postoperative pancreatitis in patients with ERCP,shorten the time of defecation,plays a significant role in the prevention of pancreatitis,and has high clinical application value.
