Assessment of the dorsalis pedis artery diseases of diabetic retinopathy patients by ultrasonography |

Abstract Objective To investigate the clinical value of color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI)in assessing the dorsalis pedis artery (DPA)diseases of diabetic retinopathy (DR)patients and to discuss the relationship between DPA and retinopathy diseases.Methods A total of 78 cases of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)were selected,who were given the medical treatment in our hospital from May 2015 to August 2016.Based on funduscopic examination,the patients were divided into the no diabetic retinopathy(NDR)group(n=42)and the DR group(n=36),all of which were compared with the normal control(NC)group formed by 33 cases.The diameter(D),intima-media thickness(IMT)and peak systolic velocity(PSV)of the DPA could be measured and calculated using CDFI.Results The D values of the control group,the NDR group and the DR group were(2.21±0.23),(2.03±0.31),(1.62±0.21)mm respectively,the IMT values were (0.24±0.05),(0.32±0.04),(0.41±0.06)mm respectively,the PSV values were (42.89±5.27),(38.91±7.38),(26.56±6.84)cm/s.Compared with the NC group,there were no significant differences in the values of D and PSV of the NDR group(P>0.05),the value of IMT revealed a significant increase(P<0.05).Compared with the NC group and the NDR group respectively,the values of D and PSV of the DR group were markedly decreased and the IMT was significant increased,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The CDFI can measure the change of structure and hemodynamics of DPA in DR patients,which has certain clinical application value.The change of structure and hemodynamics of DPA is more serious in DR patients.
