Content determination of camphor,menthol and phenol in compound spiritus camphorae by gas chromatography |

Abstract ObjectiveTo establish a method for the content determination of camphor,menthol and phenol in compound spiritus camphorae by gas chromatography.MethodsThe capillary column in KB-WAX type(30.00 m×0.32 mm×0.25 μm) was used.Nitrogen was selected as the carrier gas with a flow rate of 3.0 ml/min.The programmed-temperature conditions by flame ionization detector(FID)were to start at the initial temperature of 130℃and keep for 10 min;to rise the temperature to 230℃at 5℃/min and keep for 5 min.The inlet temperature was 200℃and the temperature of detector was 250℃. It was determined by the external standard method.ResultsCamphor,menthol,phenol could be easily separated.The linearity ranges of camphor,menthol,and phenol were 0.2029-1.6232 mg/ml(r=0.9993,n=9),0.1964-1.5712 mg/ml(r=0.9995,n=9),and 0.2 074-1.6 592 mg/ml respectively.The average recoveries were 99.43%(RSD=0.85%),101.85%(RSD=0.84%)and 101.45% (RSD=0.53%)respectively.ConclusionThe method is simple and easy to perform,high in sensitivity,and good in reproducibility,which can be used for the content determination of camphor,menthol and phenol in compound spiritus camphorae.
