Application value of two-dimensional shear wave elastography in the evaluation of intestinal fibrosis in Crohn's disease

Abstract  Objective To investigate the application value of two-dimensional shear wave elastography (2D-SWE)in the evaluation of intestinal fibrosis in Crohn's disease (CD).Methods A total of 68 CD patients admitted to Jiujiang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from August 2021 to March 2023 were selected as the study group,and 60 volunteers who underwent physical examination in Jiujiang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine during the same period were selected as the control group.All patients underwent 2D-SWE examination,and the CD activity index (CDAI)was scored in the study group.Patients with CDAI score≥150 were included in the active group (18 cases),and those with CDAI score<150 were included in the remission group(50 cases).The thickness of full-thickness and submucosal layer,standard deviation(SD)of elastic modulus and simple endoscopic score for CD (SES-CD)were compared among the three groups.The correlation between SES-CD and CDAI was analyzed.Results The full-thickness and submucosal thickness of the intestinal wall in the active group and the remission group were larger than those in the control group,and the full-thickness and submucosal thickness of the intestinal wall in the active group were larger than those in the remission group,and the SD measurement value,CDAI score,and SES-CD score were higher than those in the remission group,and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Spearman correlation analysis showed that CDAI was positively correlated with SES-CD scores in both active group and remission group(r=0.268,0.241,P<0.05).Conclusion 2D-SWE is helpful to evaluate the activity of CD,clarify the changes of intestinal wall thickness,and provide a reliable reference for clinical diagnosis and treatment,which is worthy of promotion and application.
