Abstract Objective To explore the impact of case management nursing combined with airway clearance technology on patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Methods A total of 68 patients admitted to the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine,Xiamen Haicang Hospital from January 2021 to June 2023 were selected as the study objects, and they were divided into control group (34 cases)and experimental group (34 cases)according to random number table method. The control group received routine nursing interventions, while the experimental group received case management nursing combined with airway clearance technology intervention on the basis of the control group. The sputum score, dyspnea scale score, sputum viscosity, forced vital capacity(FVC),first second forced expiratory volume(FEV1),FEV1/FVC,arterial oxygen pressure(PaO2),arterial carbon dioxide pressure(PCO2),satisfaction,and compliance of the two groups were compared. Results The sputum score, dyspnea scale score, sputum viscosity, and PCO2 of the experimental group patients were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The PaO2,FVC,FEV1,FEV1/FVC,total satisfaction, and total compliance of the experimental group patients were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Case management nursing combined with airway clearance technology intervention can reduce patients' dyspnea score and sputum score, which is beneficial for improving lung function and blood gas index levels, thereby reducing the incidence of complications and ultimately improving overall treatment satisfaction.
