Abstract Objective To investigate the application effect of external diaphragm pacemaker (EDP)combined with manual hyper inflation (MHI) in pulmonary function rehabilitation of patients with cervical spinal cord injury after tracheotomy. Methods A total of 50 patients with cervical spinal cord injury who underwent tracheotomy in the Ganzhou People's Hospital from April 2021 to April 2022 were selected as the research objects. They were divided into observation group(n=25)and control group (n=25)by random number table method. The control group was given routine breathing training, and the observation group was given EDP and MHI intervention on the basis of the control group. The changes of lung function before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The pulmonary infection scores of the observation group 7,14,21 and 28 days after treatment were lower than those of the control group, and the levels of forced vital capacity(FVC)were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The diaphragm mobility and thickness of the observation group were higher than those of the control group 28 days after treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion For patients with cervical spinal cord injury after tracheotomy, the application of EDP combined with MHI can effectively improve the lung function of patients, reduce the risk of lung infection, and the overall effect is significant, which is worthy of promotion.
