Abstract Objective To compare the effect of femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery(FLACS)and conventional phacoemulsification cataract surgery(CPCS)on intraocular pressure, best corrected visual acuity, and optic disc blood flow density in patients with age-related cataract (ARC)patients. Methods A total of 70 ARC patients admitted to Nanchang Aier Eye Hospital from July 2021 to July 2023 were selected as the research objects, and they were divided into control group(35 cases) and observation group (35 cases) according to the random number table method. The control group was treated with CPCS,and the observation group was treated with FLACS.Both groups were followed up for 3 months. The operation-related indicators, intraocular pressure, central macular thickness (CMT),best corrected visual acuity (BCVA),blood flow density in the optic disc area, and complications were compared between the two groups. Results The time of phacoemulsification in the observation group was (14.57±2.30)min,shorter than (22.49±3.58)min in the control group, the energy of phacoemulsification in the observation group was (5.39±1.20) ml,lower than (11.33±2.15) ml in the control group, and the total incidence of complications in the observation group was 5.71% (2/35),less than 22.86%in the control group (8/35),with statistically significant differences (P<0.05).The results of repeated measures analysis of variance showed that the BCVA time and inter-group comparison before operation,1 day after operation,1 week after operation,1 month and 3 months after operation between the twogroups were statistically significant (P<0.05),while the interaction between the two groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05).The BCVA of the two groups at 1 day,1 week,1 month and 3 months after operation were higher than those before operation, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the time,inter-group and interaction of intraocular pressure,CMT,peripapillary blood flow density, intrapapillary blood flow density between the two groups at each time point before and after operation(P>0.05).Conclusion FLACS has shorter phacoemulsification time, less emulsification energy, and can improve visual acuity without increasing the influence of intraocular pressure, optic disc blood flow density and CMT,and has fewer complications.
