Abstract Objective To explore the clinical effect of maxillary protraction combined with maxillary labial block in the treatment of maxillary hypoplasia. Methods A total of 60 children with maxillary hypoplasia admitted to Ganzhou Women and Children's Health Care Hospital from March 2021 to May 2022 were selected as the research objects, they were divided into study group and control group by random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with simple maxillary protraction, the study group was treated with maxillary protraction combined with maxillary labial block. The included angle of sella-nasion-subspinale (SNA),the included angle of subspinale-nasion-supramental(ANB),the distance between the anterior nasal spine and the menton(ANS-Me),the angle between the long axis of the upper central incisor and the SN plane(U1-SN),the included angle of sella-nasion-supramentale(SNB),the the anterior, superior and posterior space of temporomandibular joint and the depth of joint fossa were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results The SNA,ANB and U1-SN of the two groups after treatment were greater than those before treatment, the SNA and ANB of the study group after treatment were greater than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The anterior joint space after treatment in both groups were higher than those before treatment, while the superior articular space and posterior space were lower than those before treatment, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).There were no significant differences in anterior, superior and posterior joint space and fossa depth between the two groups before and after treatment (P>0.05).Conclusion Maxillary protraction combined with maxillary labial block can stimulate maxillary development and improve the therapeutic effect.
