Abstract Bipolar disorder is a serious chronic emotional disorder characterized by recurrent depression and(mild)mania. The quality of life of patients decreases, and the disability rate and mortality rate increase. The emotional, sleep, and neurocognitive symptoms of patients seriously affect the prognosis and social function of patients, and even affect the disease process of patients, speeding up disease recurrence.Research shows that these symptoms have a negative impact on the course of disease and quality of life of patients even if there is no serious episode of mood disorders. Many studies show that the cure rate of patients with bipolar disorder is still low despite the use of multiple drug interventions. The current evidence shows that patients with bipolar disorder usually adopt a sedentary lifestyle, and their normal activities are reduced.Compared with the general population, the amount of exercise of patients is reduced, and it is lower than the amount of exercise before the illness,Therefore, exercise may be a way to improve the symptoms, quality of life and social function of patients with bipolar disorder. This article will review the research progress of the effects of exercise on mood, sleep and neurocognitive symptoms of bipolar disorder.
