Establishment of digital virtual tooth shape database and its application research in teaching |

Abstract Objective To explore the establishment of digital virtual tooth shape database and its application effect in oral clinical teaching.Methods A retrospective study was conducted on 114 five-year undergraduate students majoring in stomatology in the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Nanchang University from January 2021 to December 2022.They were divided into control group(56)and experimental group(58)according to the teaching methods.The control group was taught by traditional presentation teaching method,and the experimental group was taught by digital virtual tooth shape database.The assessment results,learning effect,thinking ability and students' satisfaction with teaching work of the two groups were compared.Results Before teaching,there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in the mastery of basic theoretical knowledge,comprehensive defense score of practical operation ability and learning motivation,practical operation learning ability,autonomous learning ability,inquiry learning ability score and thinking ability (P>0.05).After teaching,the experimental group's basic theoretical knowledge mastery score,comprehensive defense score of practical operation ability and learning motivation score,practical operation learning ability score,inquiry learning ability score and students' satisfaction with teaching work were higher than those of the control group,and their thinking ability was better than that of the control group,with statistical significances(P<0.05).Conclusion Establishing a digital virtual tooth shape database and applying it to oral clinical teaching can promote students to better grasp basic theoretical knowledge,improve their practical operation and thinking abilities,enhance learning effectiveness,and have a high degree of satisfaction with teaching work.
