Abstract Muscle-specific microRNAs (MyomiRs)are a class of muscle cell-specific microRNAs that are expressed only in muscle and are capable of regulating multiple aspects of cellular function, including growth, differentiation, metabolism, immunity, cell death, signaling messengers,DNA repair and self-renewal,etc.They are involved in the pathological processes of inflammation, immunity, tumors and other diseases, mainly including 7 subsets:miR-1,miR-133a,miR-133b,miR-206,miR-208a,miR-208b,miR-499.Due to the differences in its expression in various diseases,it can be used to screen, identify, classify, monitor or predict the degree of risk and treatment effect of diseases, and can be used as markers of physiological and pathological processes of various diseases. For example, muscle related diseases such as hypoxia, cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and myocardial infarction, respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma, cachexia diseases such as esophageal cancer and pancreatic cancer, and other diseases such as diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis related diseases. The purpose of this review is to summarize the research status of MyomiRs as biological markers in various diseases, and to provide reference for clinical diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
