Effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation combined with inspiratory muscle training on inspiratory function in patients with subacute stroke |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) technology combined with inspiratory muscle training on inspiratory function in patients with subacute stroke. Methods A total of 60 patients with subacute stroke treated in the Fifth People′s Hospital of Nanhai District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province from January to December 2021 were divided into the control group (n=26) and the observation group (n=25) by random number table method.The control group used routine inspiratory muscle training, and the observation group were treated with PNF technology intervention on the basis of the control group. Both groups continued training for 4 weeks. The inspiratory muscle function, exercise energy consumption and dyspnea were compared between the two groups. Results After training, the maximum inspiratory pressure (MIP), peak inspiratory flow rate (PIF), maximum inspiratory capacity and energy consumption of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, the Borg score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion PNF technology combined with inspiratory muscle training can enhance inspiratory function, enhance exercise endurance, reduce dyspnea symptoms and promote the recovery of respiratory function in patients with subacute stroke.
