Abstract Objective To investigate the application effect of Modified Chaihu Shugan Powder combined with moxibustion in intervening negative emotions in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Methods A total of 60 AS patients who were treated in the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, Jiujiang No.1 People's Hospital from October 2020 to October 2021 were selected as the research objects, they were divided into the control group and the observation group according to random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine intervention, while the observation group was treated with Modified Chaihu Shugan Powder combined with moxibustion. The traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores and negative emotions (self-rating depression scale [SDS] and self-rating anxiety scale [SAS]) before intervention and after 3 months of intervention and the occurrence of adverse reactions during the intervention period were compared between the two groups. Results After 3 months of intervention, the traditonal Chinese medicine syndrome scores of the two groups were lower than those before the intervention, and the score of observation group was lower than that of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After 3 months of intervention, the SDS and SAS scores of two groups were lower than those before the intervention, and the scores of observation group were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). During the intervention period, there were no adverse reactions in the two groups. Conclusion Modified Chaihu Shugan Powder combined with moxibustion can relieve the clinical symptoms of AS patients and improve the negative emotions of patients.
