Abstract Objective To compare the application of high-frequency pulmonary ultrasound and X-ray in the diagnosis of neonatal pneumonia. Methods A total of 90 neonates with suspected pneumonia admitted to People's Hospital of Yichun City, Jiangxi Province from January to December 2021 were selected as the research objects. High frequency lung ultrasound and X-ray examination were performed on the selected children respectively. The clinicopathological results were taken as the gold standard, and the diagnostic efficacy of the two methods was calculated and compared. Results Clinicopathological results showed that 84 cases were positive and 6 cases were negative. The examination results of high-frequency pulmonary ultrasound showed that 81 cases were positive and 4 cases were negative. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive and negative predictive values were 96.43%, 66.67%, 94.44%, 97.59% and 57.14%, respectively. X-ray examination results showed that 75 cases were positive and 2 were negative. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive and negative predictive values were 89.89%, 33.33%, 85.56%, 94.94% and 18.18%. Conclu-sion Both high-frequency ultrasound and X-ray can help to diagnose neonatal pneumonia. However, the former can achieve better diagnostic performance, and is more suitable for clinical diagnosis of neonatal pneumonia.
