Value of ultrasonography and liver function indexes in the diagnosis of biliary atresia |

Abstract Objective To explore the value of ultrasound imaging and liver function index in the diagnosis of biliary atresia.Methods A total of 60 children with persistent jaundice or abnormal liver function treated in Ganzhou Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2020 to December 2021 were selected as the research objects.Among them,40 children with non biliary atresia were selected as the control group,and 20 children with biliary atresia were selected as the experimental group.All of them were tested by ultrasound imaging and liver function indexes,and Ultrasound signs and liver function indexes on admission were observed in the two groups,and the efficacy of ultrasound and liver function indexes in diagnosing biliary atresia was analyzed.Results Ultrasonographic findings showed that the proportion of portahepatis triangular cord sign (TC sign),rigid gallbladder shape,bile lake sign,rough thickening of intrahepatic duct wall,enhanced echo of intrahepatic duct wall,widened hepatic artery and gallbladder without gallbladder or lumen in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The levels of alkaline phosphatase (ALP),glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) and total bile acid (TBA) in experimental group were higher than those in control group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the levels of total bilirubin (TB),direct bilirubin (DB),alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) between the two groups (P>0.05).The areas under ROC curve of ALP,GGT and TBA for diagnosing biliary atresia were 0.652,0.842 and 0.764,respectively (P<0.05).The diagnostic accuracy,sensitivity and specificity of the combined detection of ultrasonic signs and liver function indexes were the highest,96.66%,95.00% and 97.50%,respectively.Conclusion Ultrasound imaging and liver function indexes have good application value in the diagnosis of biliary atresia.
