Abstract Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of the formulas with Radix Notoginseng and Rhizoma Bletillae in the treatment of peptic ulcer (PU). Methods A computer search was conducted for all randomized controlled trials on the treatment of PU with the formulas with Radix Notoginseng and Rhizoma Bletillae in CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, Chinese Biomedical literature, PubMed, Embase and Web of Science databases from self-built database to October 2021.Literature was screened according to inclusion and exclusion criteria and data were extracted.RevMan 5.4 software was used for quality evaluation and meta-analysis of data. Results A total of 9 studies were included, with a total sample of 747 patients, including 379 in experimental group and 368 in control group. The results of meta-analysis showed that the total effective rate of ulcer healing in the experimental group treated with the formulas with Radix Notoginseng and Rhizoma Bletillae was higher than that in the control group treated with western medicine alone (OR=4.33, 95%CI[2.37, 7.89], P<0.000 01).There was no statistically significant difference in Helicobacter pylori conversion rate between the experimental group and the control group (OR=2.09, 95%CI [0.96, 4.56], P=0.06).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the experimental group and the control group (OR=3.75, 95%CI [0.30, 47.72], P=0.31).The time of signs disappearance (MD=-2.35, 95%CI [-2.81, -1.89], P<0.000 01), hospital stay (MD=-3.17, 95%CI [-3.68, -2.66], P<0.000 01) and time of ulcer recovery (MD=-8.55, 95%CI [-10.69, -6.42],P<0.000 01) in experimental group were shorter than those in control group. Conclusion The the formulas with Radix Notoginseng and Rhizoma Bletillae combined western medicine treatment of PU the curative effect is superior to western medicine therapy, especially in the recovery phase of the treatment is excellent.
