| Application of hand exercise in nursing of patients with rheumatoid arthritis treated by modified Taohong Siwu Decoction fumigation and washing |

Abstract Objective To investigate the application effect of hand exercise in nursing of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treated by modified Taohong Siwu Decoction fumigation and washing.Methods A total of 60 patients with RA who were admitted to our hospital from June 2018 to December 2019 were selected as the research subjects,and they were divided into control group (n=30) and observation group (n=30) according to random number table method.The control group was given modified Taohong Siwu decoction fumigation and washing combined with routine nursing,and observation group was given modified Taohong Siwu Decoction fumigation and washing combined with hand exercise.The morning stiffness time,joint range of motion,pain Degree,activities of daily living and nursing satisfaction were compared between two groups.Results There were no statistical differences in the morning stiffness time,joint range of motion and score of visual analogue scale (VAS) between two groups before intervention (P＞0.05).After intervention,the morning stiffness time of observation group was shorter than that of control group,the VAS score of observation group was lower than that of control group,and the joint range of motion in observation group was higher than that in control group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).After intervention in same group,the morning stiffness time was shorter than that before intervention,and the joint range of motion and VAS score were lower than those before intervention (P<0.05).Before intervention,there were no statistical differences in the scores of Barthel index (BI) and nursing satisfaction between two groups (P＞0.05),and after intervention,the scores of BI and nursing satisfaction in observation group were higher than those in control group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).After intervention,the scores of BI and nursing satisfaction in same group were higher than those before intervention,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Hand exercise in nursing of patients with RA treated by modified Taohong Siwu Decoction fumigation and washing has better application effects,it can improve joint symptoms,shorten morning stiffness time,relieve pain degree,and increase activities of daily living and nursing satisfaction.
