Abstract  Objective To explore the application effect of three dimensions (3D) printing model in the teaching of spinal surgery. Methods A total of 32 students who received standardization training in our hospital from September 2015 to September 2018 were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group by lottery method, with 16 students in each group. The same teaching content in two groups was the spinal disease which was required by the resident standardized training syllabus. The experimental group was taught with the 3D printing model, and the control group was taught with traditional methods. The theoretical test scores and total teaching satisfaction of the two groups were compared. Results The theoretical test scores and total teaching satisfaction of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The 3D printing model can effectively improve the theoretical test scores of students and increase the teaching satisfaction, which is worth of further promoting.
