Abstract SuperPATH minimally invasive artificial hip arthroplasty was invented by Dr.Jimmy Chow of the United States in 2011,which is composed of a supracapsular incision approach (SuperCap) and a percutaneous auxiliary pathway approach (PATH).It enters the joint capsule through the intermuscular space between gluteus medius,gluteus minimus and piriformis muscle,without cutting off the muscles and tendons.As a new approach for artificial total hip arthroplasty with percutaneous puncture and joint capsule preservation,it achieves satisfactory curative effect in early treatment and has various advantages,like short incision,small tissue damage,less blood loss,off-bed movement in shorter time,lower post-operational dislocation rate and faster functional recovery.Through literature review,the development process,surgical contraindications,indications,techniques and clinical efficacy of SuperPATH minimally invasive artificial hip arthroplasty were analyzed in this paper,and the researches on SuperPATH in recent years were also reviewed.
