Relationship between total cholesterol and lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 in 29 846 cheek-up crowd |

Abstract Objective To investigate the relationship between lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2) and total cholesterol (TC) in cheek-up crowd.Methods From November 2017 to November 2019,29 846 people who underwent physical examination in People′s Hospital of Bishan District were selected as research subjects.General information,including age,sex,height,weight,hip circumference,waist circumference,systolic blood pressure (SBP),diastolic blood pressure (DBP),body mass index (BMI),serum TC,triglyceride (TG),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels and Lp-PLA2 activity were detected.The collected population data were divided into normal control group (16 192 cases),elevated TC margin group (9452 cases),elevated TC group (4202 cases) according to TC concentration.Patients with hypercholesterolemia who met the standard were selected as the follow-up group (114 cases).Pearson test was used to analyze the correlation between Lp-PLA2 activity and age,height,weight,waist circumference,SBP,DBP,BMI,TG,HDL-C and LDL-C.The differences in age,body weight,hip circumference,waist circumference,SBP,DBP,BMI,Lp-PLA2,TG,HDL-C and LDL-C were compared among the normal TC control group,TC edge elevation group and TC elevation group.The changes of Lp-PLA2 activity and TC concentration in the hypercholesterolemia follow-up group before and after treatment were compared.Results The Lp-PLA2,TG and LDL-C of TC edge elevation group were higher than those of normal TC control group,while HDL-C was lower than that of normal TC control group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The Lp-PLA2,TG and LDL-C of TC increased group were higher than those of TC normal control group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The Lp-PLA2,TG and LDL-C in TC increased group were higher than those in TC edge increased group,while HDL-C was lower than that in TC edge increased group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Lp-PLA2 activity was positively correlated with age,height,weight,waist circumference,SBP,DBP,BMI,TC,TG and LDL-C (P<0.05),while Lp-PLA2 activity was negatively correlated with HDL-C (P<0.05),but had no significant correlation between Lp-PLA2 activity and hip circumference (P>0.05).After regular treatment for 4 weeks,serum Lp-PLA2 activity and TC concentration in the follow-up group were lower than those before treatment,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The activity of different concentrations of TC and Lp-PLA2 was statistically significant,and reducing the concentration of TC in hypercholesterolemia was of great significance for reducing the activity of Lp-PLA2.
