Changes and analysis of diagnostic value of serum fibrin degradation products and haptoglobin in elderly asthma |

Abstract Objective To explore the changes of serum fibrin degradation products (FDP) and haptoglobin (HPT) in elderly asthma and their diagnostic value. Methods A total of 58 elderly patients with asthma diagnosed and treated in Jinzhou Central Hospital from March 2016 to March 2019 were selected as the asthma group, and 58 volunteers with normal physical examination during the same period were selected as the control group. Pearson method was used to analyze the correlation between FDP and HPT levels and lung function indicators. ROC curve was used to analyze the diagnostic value of FDP and HPT in elderly patients with asthma. Results The forced ventilation volume, forced expiratory volume in the first second and maximum respiratory peak flow rate in the asthma group were lower than those in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The levels of serum FDP and HPT in the asthma group were higher than those in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Pearson analysis showed that the levels of serum FDP and HPT in elderly patients with asthma were negatively correlated with the forced ventilation volume, forced expiratory volume in the first second and maximum respiratory peak flow rate (P<0.05). ROC curve showed that the area under the curve (AUC) of serum FDP and HPT levels in the diagnosis of elderly asthma was 0.830 and 0.833 respectively, and the AUC of combined diagnosis of elderly asthma was 0.911. Conclusion Serum FDP and HPT have the potential as early diagnosis and identification indicators for elderly asthma.
