Application effects of transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with Olanzapine on mental symptoms and sleep disorders in vagrant patients |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) combined with Olanzapine in vagrant psychiatric patients. Methods A total of 76 patients with vagrant psychosis treated in Dongguan Seventh People′s Hospital from January 2019 to September 2021 were selected as the study subjects, and they were divided into control group (38 cases) and observation group (38 cases) by random number table method. The control group was treated with Olanzapine and the observation group was treated with TMS for 4 weeks. Mental symptoms (positive and negative symptom scale[PANSS]scores),sleep quality(Pittsburgh sleep quality scale[PSQI])and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference in PANSS and PSQI scores between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05). The negative symptoms, positive symptoms, general psychopathological score, PANSS total score and PSQI score of the two groups after treatment were lower than those before treatment, with statistical significances (P<0.05). The negative symptoms, positive symptoms, general psychopathological score, PANSS total score and PSQI score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The total effective rate of the observation group (92.11%) was higher than that of the control group(63.16%), with statistical significance (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion TMS combined with Olanzapine in the treatment of vagrant psychosis can effectively improve their mental symptoms and sleep disorders. It has definite curative effect and high safety.
