Abstract Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the common cause of respiratory infections in neonate. The clinical manifestations are lack of the specificity, therefore it can be ignored to cause severe infection. Moreover, the neonatal immune system is not fully developed, the severity of disease is more serious than older children and more prone to explosive infection. It has been classified into two genotypes of A and B (RSV-A and RSV-B) based on the difference response of RSV G protein with monoclonal antibodies and G protein genes, and multiple infections can be repeated because the neutralizing antibodies of different subtypes of RSV do not provide effective pritection in different genotypes.There are many reports at home and abroad on whether the disease severity is different between the two subtypes, but the conclusions are different. To investigate the relationship between the different genotypes and disease, this paper reviews the epidemiology, clinical manifestations, treatment and prevention of neonatal respiratory syncytial virus, aiming to provide a scientific basis for vaccine development and the formulation of clinical specific prevention.
